What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that helps you contour areas of your body to give you a more defined physique.

What happens during liposuction?

Depending on the areas you'll have treated with liposuction, you’ll be placed under local or general anesthesia.

Then, Dr. Chen makes small incisions in the predetermined areas. He places cannulas (tiny tubes) into the incisions to suction out the stubborn fat, being gentle and careful not to disturb the tissues and organs nearby. 

What areas can liposuction treat?

What is recovery from liposuction like?

After liposuction, the recovery process takes about 3-4 days. You can return to your regular activities within two weeks.

You'll have some pain, bruising, and swelling in the treated areas, but this is a normal part of the recovery process.

Dr. Chen may give your special compression garments to reduce any swelling following liposuction. It's completely normal to have some irregularities in the days after liposuction, but the contours will even out as you heal. 

You can maintain your liposuction results by following healthy habits, like eating nutritious foods and exercising regularly, to prevent weight gain.

Am I a good candidate for liposuction?

Liposuction uses small incisions and requires only a short period of recovery, making it a very popular cosmetic procedure for many people. However, Dr. Chen discusses the limitations and expectations during your consultation in the office.
